The Atlanta Beltline

If you’re in search of a one-of-a-kind art stroll, The Beltline is your answer. This incredible 22-mile paved trail now connects neighborhoods, restaurants, shops, and more. The best part? The entire path is dotted with stunning murals, sculptures, and installations created by an array of local artists. Find your favorite mural easily using this interactive online map, strike a pose, and be sure to share it with your friends!

Historic Oakland Cemetery

Widely known as the oldest public park in Atlanta, Historic Oakland Cemetery is one of the city’s greatest treasures. Founded in 1849, this is the final resting place of some notable Atlantans, including the Hinman family, one of Atlanta’s original ‘Blue Book’ families, and the occupants of Stonehurst Place from 1896 – 1996.  Other recognizable names of Atlantan’s buried at Oakland include Margaret Mitchell, writer of “Gone With the Wind,” Bobby Jones, considered the greatest amateur golfer of all time, and co-founder of the nation’s first PTA for African Americans, Selena Sloan Butler. With so many influential residents and distinctive mausoleums, funerary art, and architecture, the cemetery offers a window into Atlanta’s rich history.

Pro-tip: Although the cemetery is free to visit, we recommend purchasing a self-guided tour map to explore the park.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park

From Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth home to the well-known Ebenezer Baptist Church, this remarkable site encompasses nearly thirty-five acres. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park features several exhibits, landmarks, and monuments that tell the story of Dr. King’s legacy and impact on the African American Civil Rights Movement across the nation.

Piedmont Park

Just a ten-minute walk from Stonehurst Place on Piedmont Avenue, you’ll encounter Piedmont Park, 180-acres nestled in the heart of Midtown Atlanta and the city’s favorite green space. Visitors enjoy jogs and bike rides along the winding paths, splashing in in the community pool on hot summer days, picnics on the lawn, fetch in the dog park, or even pick-up games on the wide-open fields. No matter the activity, Piedmont Park is the place to go.
