Everything You Should Know About New York to Atlanta Flights
Departures: LaGuardia vs JFK
The first step to planning the perfect getaway is to select your ideal airports. You have two main options for departures from the New York area: LaGuardia (LGA) and the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). You can also fly out of the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), but it requires more driving time — typically with extra tolls — and less ideal flight times.
The John F. Kennedy International Airport is known as the primary airport in New York City, with plenty of flight options and amenities. Plus, there are several convenient public transportation options to and from JFK, including easy access to the subway. There are nonstop flight options from New York to Atlanta via Delta and Jet Blue. American Airlines also offers flights with one or two stops.
LaGuardia, on the other hand, is a slightly smaller airport about 10 miles north of JFK. Don’t let the smaller size fool you, though. LGA offers just as many flight options as JFK — if not, more — and the terminals are spread further out. That just means you should arrive a little earlier to make it to your terminal on time. There are direct flights via Frontier, Delta, American Airlines, and Jet Blue.
Arrival: The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
The New York to Atlanta flight time is typically around three hours to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Fun fact: This is known as the world’s busiest airport! Don’t worry, though. We’ll help you navigate your way through Hartsfield-Jackson with ease. There are six different concourses in the domestic terminal, each with a variety of restaurants, bars, lounge areas, and additional amenities.
