Unquestionably the best hotel I’ve stayed in during many years of business and pleasure travels in the Americas, North, South and Central.
The website and its pretty pictures are no marketing exaggeration, but the real deal. You can get all the info there about the background, design and eco side of the place, I won’t repeat that here.
To be clear it is B&B: no gyms, pools, bars or restaurants. It’s a very modest environment tuned to a very specific perfection of refined consideration. If quiet and superbly appointed understatement is your thing, and you are happy to eat what you are given – the Inn Keepers decide what your breakfast is today, not you – then this will be a treat. If not, then do yourself (and everyone else) a favour and find somewhere better suited to your requirements.
Breakfast is an experience. It changes every day and for me was unfailingly superb. Don’t forego the baking left out for guests either, unless your waistline insists.
I stayed in “Gables”, which didn’t really have any view at all, but that was irrelevant for me. Best shower ever, anywhere, on the planet. Great bed – exceptionally comfy. Ideal room for me.
Everything you need is provided.
Final point is the staff – the Inn Keepers could not be more welcoming and hospitable. Nothing is too much and nothing is a problem, unless you choose to make it so.
All in all, I could find no fault at all, something I’ve never said before about a hotel. Perhaps the worst aspect is that everywhere else I ever stay will be a dump…
