“Good Midtown B&B in a great location”

I’m a real fan of neighborhood revitalization. As a former Atlanta resident I was pleasantly surprised to find this B&B in a neighborhood I wouldn’t have gone near 10-15 years ago, especially after dark. Bravo Stonehurst Place!
The property is immaculate. The upstairs and downstairs sitting rooms are very comfortable and they offer “snacks” in the main lobby that include soft drinks and wine. I would certainly recommend allowing some time for yourself to relax around the property in several indoor and outdoor sitting areas and just soak in the southern air that seems to be returning to this part of Atlanta.
I was a little concerned I might have to park on the street upon arrival, something I didn’t want to do based on my memory of this area (fair or unfair); however, I was able to secure a parking space in the back. But they are limited to about 4 cars.
We booked The Piedmont room. The pictures online of the room, the interior of the house and the property itself just don’t do it justice in my opinion. We found the sleeping quarters comfortable enough. However, the bathroom was tiny, almost a little uncomfortably so. I would certainly recommend this room for a business traveler. However, for a couple or vacationers, if you’re going to spend more than a couple of days in Atlanta, you might want to consider one of the other rooms.
The staff is very friendly and willing to help with suggestions about the area, and our breakfast (consisting of an Italian egg dish) was very delicious. Breakfast is served family style as there is only one dining table in the house.
As I mentioned previously, the area around 14th and Piedmont in Atlanta did not used to be conducive to night time ventures outside. Now you’ll find restaurants and shops within walking distance of a couple of blocks. Piedmont Park is just a couple of blocks further north. You also may not realize how close you are to Buckhead, The High Museum, The Fox Theater, The Margaret Mitchell House, Georgia Tech, Turner Field and The Arts Center, as well as (real) downtown Atlanta itself.
It’s really great to see this part of Atlanta coming back to life as are many other areas around the downtown area. Atlanta is a great city that seems to be making strides to reclaim some of the southern charm it tried to shed in the 90’s. Yet it is still very cosmopolitan and Stonehurst Place is playing a part in that.
There are a myriad of hotels that cater to business travelers in Midtown and Buckhead, but, give Stonehurst Place a look when you visit. We certainly will on our next visit
